Technology
The goal of the technology curriculum is to help students see technology as an essential component in compiling, organizing, analyzing, and presenting information. Classroom teachers and technology teachers work in partnership to ensure that technology instruction has a direct connection to classroom instruction. This approach to technology allows students to become active, rather than passive, participants. Through online learning resources (WebQuests), web-based distance learning projects, and multimedia presentations, students are able to take part in an information exchange process that is more powerful and meaningful than the traditional classroom delivery of information.
Here at The Honor Roll School, we fully recognize the need for our students to become proficient in the use of computers while focusing on the computer as a productivity tool.
Starting in Kindergarten, our students have the opportunity to utilize the computer laboratory at least once a week. According to grade level students are taught keyboarding, word processing, Internet, spreadsheet/databases as well as how to develop graphics, multimedia presentations and web pages.
The computer lab is equipped with laptops and desktop workstations and have high-speed internet connections. Students are also encouraged to use the computers throughout their core courses to reinforce and supplement their classroom work.
